Leading Through Transformation & Uncertainty
Shared on
We all feel it. This collective moment of tremendous disruption. Systems dismantling, foundations crumbling, all while glimpses of new futures are emerging (hello, AI!). It’s both terrifying and exhilarating, depending on your seat and orientation to change.
Remember, transformation is nature unfolding. Death is a certainty and a necessity. Rebirth, too, a certainty and necessity.
Our job as leaders isn’t to fight the unfolding transformation, but to witness and shape it as best we’re able. To lean in when we’re called, to step back and restore as needed, to observe and sense make, to stay adaptable and open, and to give voice to what’s true.
When uncertainty in the macro-environment is this high, we can continue to rely on the pillars of Wholeness at Work:
- self-renewal - keep yourself grounded and clear, prioritize your well-being now more than ever
- community care - nurture and be nurtured by your people (genuine friends, neighbors, colleagues, strangers to whom you can offer warmth and care)
- humanized systems - let essential structures support you, stay open to the systemic evolution by honoring what’s deeply human
Friends, I’m writing this on another airplane, straight from my brain and not AI, amidst a massive work transformation around how I/my team at Evolution relate to this new world. It’s incredibly exciting and I can’t wait to share more with you all soon.
Until then, I’ll be reading poetry at the wine bar, searching for meaning in my spring garden, relishing every second of my children still wanting my hugs, and keeping my antennae up for wisdom in the dark.
I hope you’ll do the same.
With trust in the human spirit and our creative potential, may we find our way together.
